 Who says that animals and insects are the only one that is preyed for food? Perhaps the foolish because there is cannibalism that exist long time ago.

But now not only fellow humans eat each other but animals also eat humans. Recently a report of Bengal tigers have eaten 15 people as the latest killing victims of tiger man eating big cats.


A 4 year old boy was the latest prey victim of the suspected leopard that eats humans on Kathmandu, Nepal. The leopard has prey 15 people so far as the leopard was suspected to be the death cause of the people. The police however that not the leopard is the single man eating animals on Kathmandu but there could be two man eating animals on the Nepal.

The police chief suspects that a single man-eating leopard is responsible for the deaths. If not, there are at most two of the man-eating creatures around, he believes.” --- CNN

The ecologist on the Kathmandu Nepal agreed that there are no single man eating animals that could eat 15 people in the past 15 months.

“Maheshwor Dhakal, an ecologist at the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation in Kathmandu, agreed that it is unusual to find more than one or two man-eating animals in one area. Most leopards live on wild prey.

More human victims could also be expected if there were more than one or two man-eaters around, he said.

"Since human blood has more salt than animal blood, once wild animals get the taste of salty blood they do not like other animals like deer," Dhakal said.

Kharel said he feared the actual number of people killed by the leopard could be higher than 15, because others have lost their life to leopard attacks in Uttarkhand state in northern India, which borders Baitadi district.

"It could be the same leopard," he said.”

The leopard is one of the man eating creatures or animals that prey on humans as diet. Other man eating creatures includes lions, tigers, crocodiles, sharks, bears, hyenas, cougars, komodo dragons and humans that eats fellow humans.


Big Cats  - this include tigers, lions and leopards. Tigers are the most man eaters among the lions and leopards. According to Wikipedia, tigers eat 50 -250 people per year and attacks during daylight within their territory and not on attacking human habitation unlike lions who attack human habitation during nighttime and as well as day time but lions are reported to be more aggressive and bolder on attack their preys or attacking humans. Leopard also attack on nighttime like lions.


Among tiger man-eaters are :


1.      Tigers of Chowgarh which are Bengal tigers that has eaten 64 people in eastern Kumaon northern India.
2.      Tiger of Mundachipallam which are Bengal tigers have eaten or killed 7 people at Pennagaram India
3.      Tiger of Segur from Nilgiri Hills southern India
4.      Champawat Tiger a female Bengal tiger or a tigress from Nepal and Kumaon India that killed 430 people
5.      Tigress of Jowlagiri a female Bengal tiger from Mysore State India



Royal Bengal Tigers at Sundarbans ( “…largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world..” ) Bangladesh and India are known to kill people per year with substantial number.

Lions are estimated to kill 550-700 people per year.Tsavo lions in Kenya are known lions that eat humans; the  “tsavo incident” makes them known on the public to be man eating.




Leopard Maneater are :


1.     Leopard of the Central Provinces which are known as the Devilish Cunning Panther is a male Leopard of India killed and or eaten 150 people at British India
2.     Leopard of Gummalapur which are known as Spotted Devil of Gummalapur male Indian leopard that killed 42 people in the villages of Gummalapur and Devarabetta in southern Karnataka South West India
3.     Leopard of Panar is male leopard from India at Panar region of Almora District, situated in Kumaon Northern India have killed 400 people
4.     Leopard of Rudraprayag a male Indian Leopard that has killed 125 people from Rudraprayag a town and a municipality in Rudraprayag district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
5.     Leopard of the Yellagiri Hills is an Indian Leopard that killed 3 people at Yellagiris, a crescent formation of hills east of the Jalarpet Junction railway on the Southern Railway Indian Railway.


Cause of Big Cats to Be Man eaters.


1.     Starvation
2.     Old Age
3.     Illness
4.     Infirmity
5.     Man own irresponsible disposal of their remains which tempts infirm big cats to rely on the corpses to make themselves feed than attacking usual preys like deers.


Reptiles – these include crocodiles,alligators,snakes,dragons(Komodo dragon or komodo lizard) and reptilians called Ciakars or the “Aswang” in the Philippine myth. Ciakars are human like reptiles with wings that feed on human flesh and drinks human blood.


Crocodiles Maneater are :


1.     Gustave is large male Nile crocodile has eaten 300 people at the banks of the Ruzizi River and the northern shores of Lake Tanganyika,Africa
2.     Saltwater Crocodiles from Ramree Islands or Yangbye Island,Burma have eaten thousand troops or Japanese soldiers which records to be the "Worst crocodile disaster in the world” and Most Number of Fatalities in a Crocodile Attack" in the Guinness World Records or The Guinness Book of Records


Alligators Maneaters :


1.     !970 – 3 fatalities
2.     1980 – 4 fatalities
3.     1990 – 3 fatalities
4.     2000 – 13 fatalities


Snakes man eaters :


1.     Pythons from Philippines… Pythons are nonvenomous ambush predators.It is the only family of snakes that are able to eat an adult human being are constrictors (three pythons and one boa, all non-venomous)
Python reticulates  or (Asiatic) reticulated python is the world's longest snakes and longest reptile, but are not the most heavily built.

2.     Green Anaconda or Anaconda, Common Anaconda, Water Boa or Eunectes murinus(derived from the Greek Ευνήκτης meaning "good swimmer" and the Latin murinus, "of mice" for supposedly preying on mice, not for being "gray-mouse-colored") is the heaviest known snake species and the world's longest snakes, reaching more than 6.6 m (22 ft) long which is native of south America.

3.     Python sebae or commonly known as the African rock python. It is the Africa's largest snake, specimens may approach or exceed 6 m (20 ft).

4.     Burmese Python (Python molurus bivittatus) is the largest subspecies of the Indian Python and one of the 6 largest snakes in the world..

Dragon man eaters


1.     Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis), also known as the Komodo monitor, is a large species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang and Padar,Indonesia


2.     Reptilian winged Ciakars or non-winged ciakars are said to feed on human flesh and human blood they are on the Philippine myth and folklore as “Aswangs/Mananggal”..Some of them are half-human.

Bears – bears rarely attack humans but attack when their natural prey is scarce.


Bear Maneater


1.     Sankebetsu brown bear have killed seven settlers on Japan (in Rokusensawa, Sankebetsu, Tomamae, Rumoi, Hokkaidō) and said to be the worst bear attack in the history of japan. The bear attack incident was called Sankebetsu brown bear incident, Rokusensawa bear attack, or the Tomamae brown bear incident
2.     Sloth bear of Mysore.Sloth bear or also known as the Stickney Bear or labiated bear, is known to be a nocturnal insectivorous bear found at Indian subcontinent has known to attack humans.
3.     Grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis), also known as the silvertip bear, the grizzly, or the North American brown bear, is a subspecies of brown bear (Ursus arctos) that generally lives in the uplands of western North America. The incident of the killing of Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend by the grizzly bear.
4.     The Brown Bear (Ursus arctos), the American Black Bear (Ursus americanus) and the Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus).

Canids Canids or canidae are dog-like mammals which includes domestics dogs,wolves,foxes,jackals and coyotes.


Canids Maneaters 


1.     Beast of Gévaudan is wolf-like animals. De Beaufort (1987) estimated 210 attacks, resulting in 113 deaths and 49 injuries; 98 of the victims killed were partly eaten. The beast seemed to target humans over farm animals, many times attacking someone while cattle were in the same field.


2.     Kirov wolf attacks is a series of wolf attacks on humans which occurred in 1944-1954 in nine raions (districts) of the 120,800 km2 Kirov Oblast of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic[1] which resulted in the deaths of 22 children between the ages 3-17


3.     Wolf of Ansbach is a man eating wolf that attacked and killed an unknown number of people in the Principality of Ansbach in 1685, then a part of the Holy Roman Empire


4.     Wolf of Gysinge in three months, attacked and killed many children in Gysinge near central Sweden in the early 1820s.


5.     Wolf of Sarlat attacked and wounded seventeen people in Sarlat, France, in June 1766. Unlike other wolves that had become man-eaters, it was notable in that it attacked only grown men, standing on its hind legs to get at the face and neck


6.     Wolf of Soissons killed 18 people at the commune of French,Soissons.


7.     Wolves of Ashta are 6 pack of wolves that killed 17 children in the Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh India.


8.     Wolves of Turku is a trio man eating wolves that killed 22 children in Turku, Finland


9.     Wolves of Hazaribagh are pack of five man eating wolves that killed 13 children aged from 4 to 10 years from Hazaribagh - is a city and a municipality in Hazaribagh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.


10.  Wolves of Périgord are pack of man eating wolves that plagued the northwestern regions of Périgord, France, in February 1766.


11.  Wolves of Paris is pack of man eating wolves that killed forty people in Paris in 1450.


Fish


1.     Sharks – sharks are known to be man eater
2.     Bagarius cat fish or goonch cat fish are known to eat humans on the Indian river called Kali river
