Famous Filipino Televangelist Dies

Philippines – Philippine famous Christian televangelist with his famous radio and TV program “Ang Dating Daan” brother Eliseo “Eli” Fernando Soriano dies at age 73 at Santa Catarina Brazil last February 11,2021 Friday at dawn. The members of his church - Members Church of God International-did not mention the cause of his death.

His church said : "It is with deep sadness, yet with full faith in the Almighty, that we announce the passing of our beloved and one and only Bro. Eliseo 'Eli' Soriano -- a faithful preacher, brother, father, and grandfather to many,"

“Aside from "Ang Dating Daan," Soriano also hosted other religious programs like "Itanong Mo Kay Soriano" and "Truth In Focus." These gospel-preaching shows air at UNTV channel, managed by broadcaster and his nephew Daniel Razon.”(CNN Philippines)

He fled to Brazil because of facing string of cases mostly libel cases since 2004 according to the news. ”Soriano left the Philippines in 2004 after being hounded by a string of cases, including rape and libel.”(Inquirer)

“Soriano allegedly left the country for Brazil in 2004 following cases filed against him.”(Philstar)

The main point : Famous Philippine televangelist Bro. Eliseo “Eli” Soriano with his famous radio and TV program “Ang Dating Daan” have died at the age of 73 on Brazil last February 11,2021 with the members of his church not mentioning the cause of his death.

Religion Amist Pandemic

Philippines – Every year a Christian religious event took place in the Philippines which are attended almost millions of people but now the attendance has been curtailed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Actually, the event is supposed to be cancel because of the COVID-19 pandemic but many Filipino could not be stop to attend to it as many go to Quiapo church. The Christian religious event is the feast of the Black Nazarene of the black statue of Jesus Christ and its so-called “translacion”.

Though the attendees or the devotees wear face mask and face shield, according to the news, they still violate health protocol regarding COVID-19 that is they do not observe social distancing and health government officials are fearing a surge of COVID-19 cases because of the event that will become a super spreader of the disease or the COVID-19.

The black statue was supposed to make procession around Manila but now because of COVID-19 pandemic the black statue is kept inside the church and church attendance is only limited to 400 people but with face mask and face shield.

The devotee believes that touching the black statue and having glimpse of it and being with its presence will heal their sickness and will bring blessings or good fortune thus so many are striving to touch it, have a glimpse of it and being with its presence.

The feast of the Black Nazarene is celebrated every 9^th of January.

The main point : Every year many Christian Filipinos attended the feast of the Black Nazarene on January 9 but because of the COVID-19 pandemic the attendance has been curtailed yet still some Filipinos were never stop from attending the event despite of the pandemic around and were found violating social distancing and health officials are fearing of a surge of COVID-19  cases because the event will become a super spreader of the disease or COVID-19.

Pope Francis Support Gay Union

 

In a documentary film directed by a gay director Evgeny Afineevsky, Pope Francis show his endorsement and support for gay couple to have civil unions and he will be the first pope in the church to do it.

Gay Catholics praised his stand but conservatives say the pope contradicts the long standing of the church against same sex relationship and the pope made a serious mistake.

“Pope Francis has said that he thinks same-sex couples should be allowed to have "civil unions" .He made the comments, which observers say are his clearest remarks yet on gay relationships, in a documentary directed by Evgeny Afineevsky.” (BBC)

A Teenager Catholic Saint

 

Recently, an Italian young teenager boy was on his beautification ceremony-the step toward sainthood in Catholic Church -  at Basilica of St Francis of Assisi on Saturday. He is Carlo Acutis.

 

He died of leukemia at age 15 years old and do charity works, help the website of local Catholic organization, spread his faith in Christianity in the internet, and do a miracle by saving a boy’s life. He is now dubbed as “the patron saint of the internet”.

 

“An Italian teenager who used the internet to spread his faith is on a path to becoming the Catholic Church's first millennial saint. Carlo Acutis, who died of leukaemia in 2006 aged 15, has already been dubbed "the patron saint of the internet". On Saturday, he was beatified at a ceremony in the town of Assisi and moved one step closer to sainthood.” (BBC)

Black Nazarene Magic?

Highlights : Anong milagro ang namimilagro sa isang statya ni Kristo? Ano pulso napupulsohan nila sa rebulto ni Kristo? ; na ang rebulto ni Kristo ay namimilagro? Ano ang milagro at bakit mahalaga ito?

What miracle they saw or miraculously happening to the statue of Christ? What pulse they felt on the statue of Christ?; that the statue is miraculous or manifesting something miraculous? What is miracle and why it is important?

Duqilai Dictionary : Miracle - an event/activity or thing that is happening beyond perceived reality or a supernatural happenings.

Philippines. Every January 9 of the year,the Philippines,especially the Catholic circle celebrated what they call "Feast of the Black Nazarene" or "Fiesta ng Poong Itim na Nazareno" and million devotees flock the compound of the Quipo church just to take hold what they call "Poong Itim na Nazareno" or Black Nazarene which they believe to make miracles or miraculous and could give them food,heal sickness,e.g. if they become devotee to it and if perchance they could touch his statue on his feast.

But on the skeptical side,is it really that if one become devotee to the statue one could experience its miracles?

Where and how the statue become miraculous or manifest miracles?

It is said that the statue never burn into ashes and have survive many fires and earthquakes in Quipo church but ironically the statue was charred,hence the color and the other replica was destroyed during the Manila galleon expedition from Mexico.Is this they based the miracle? or what is really happening if one become devotee of it and if one touched the statue on its feast? Why the numbers of devotees growing miraculously,is that a miracle!?

Why do they have to sacrifice thier lives just to have a touch of the statue which resulted into stampede and physical injuries?

The way they act they value much of the said miracle and they value miracle.

In secular side, it is Magic.
In non-secular side or religious side,it is Miracle.

The statue making magic?! Wow!

Miracle has connotation that it is a supernatural act of their "personal" God or Deity,on religious side.But Magic has connotation of powers from an individual.

Miracle - "God is Powerful"
Magic - "I am Powerful"

Thus million devotees believe because it is perceived to be an act of their "believed" God.Many people believed because many people believed of their "believed" God.But to magic,only few.

Black Nazarene Magic? or just plain chance that many people,especially in the Philippines believed on their "believed" God?

On skeptical side,just plain chance and scientific explanation why the statue survived fires and earthquakes.Actually,the statue is charred,thus called "Black" from its original white skin.

On non-secular side,it is an act of their "believed" God or what they call miracle.

Magic or Miracle? It is people's choice.

another person on other dimension is influencing the person on our physical dimension by hovering their body or by possessing their body..
